I don't know, I find that my power goes out more often than my phone.
Not that I'd know if my phone went out for a couple of hours when I'm at work, but my alarm clock likes to tell me that the power's been out.
Of course my power isn't full of static like my phone is. We've been getting some Korean radio station on our phone line for the past eight years ...
I'm currently using my telco because they were more reliable than our cable provider. Here the power company is the best of the lot.
This usage of power lines isn't new, but it looks to be getting closer.
Of course I hadn't even considered that I can't use my broadband when I don't have power anyway. My laptop may be on battery power, but the DSL router needs to be plugged in.
